Estonia's e-Residency programme allows non-Estonians to access Estonian digital services. The resident digital identity card is issued to non-citizens with residence permits, while the e-Resident digital ID is available to global applicants. Both use the same 40×50 mm photo standard.

Background

• Use a plain white background for digital ID applications

• No shadows on your face or behind your head

Glasses

Glasses are not recommended. If you must wear them:

• Your eyes (pupils and iris) must be clearly visible through the lenses
• No glare or reflection on the lenses
• No tinted lenses (unless medically required)
• Frames must not hide your face or prevent identification

Head Coverings and Hats

• No hats or head coverings are allowed, unless worn for religious reasons
